Context

The OBI-12 project came to light after a market analysis of egg incubators. Existing products are predominantly designed for professionals in a market where newbies and children are an important target.

My goal was to have a qualitative egg incubator with professional features that could be used for educative purposes with children/ beginners/ teachers etc.

Product

As part of this project, I was primarily responsible for product design, in addition to product development. I utilized Figma to create a draft design for the panel sticker of the OBI-12, which was then shared with the design team. I explored several color themes and opted for minimalist icons with a touch of cuteness. Collaborating with the graphic designers, we went back and forth several times until we achieved the final design. I also worked extensively on testing the product, in collaboration with the Procurement Manager. Given the complexity of the incubation process, I created numerous resources to build the manual, ensuring that the process was clear and concise. Following my departure from the company, my colleagues continued working on the project. They created listing pictures for Amazon and successfully launched the product at the end of February.

Key Takeways

  • How to clearly communicate a design vision to graphic designers.

  • How to increase communication through all team members by using collaborative tools like Figma.

  • How important ownership is on every part of the project. Perfectionism can not be achieved if people are not involved.
